ABOUT ABOUT

Please join us for a CERT exercise to pracdtice your skills and to get your FEMA CERT Volunteer Position Task Book signed off. This exercise is the conclusion of the 2025-01 Basic CERT Academy, and also serves as a qualifying Position Task Book exercise for current members seeking to have their Position Task Book signed off for the following positions:

  • FEMA CERT Volunteer Type 1
  • FEMA CERT Volunteer Type 2
  • FEMA CERT Section Chief (with prior coordination with the Command Staff)

This is also an opportunity for community members to participate as "volunteer victims" and learn how the Sacramento CERT program operates during a disaster.

The reason this is important:

  • FEMA Type 1 Volunteers are able to deploy anywhere in the State of California to a declared disaster as part of a Sacramento CERT activation.
  • The more FEMA Type 1 Volunteers we have, the closer SFD CERT is to being added to the FEMA resource list as an available state asset.
  • Your participation in a CERT graduation exercise is a great way to refresh and hone your field skills and make you more confident in your abilities.
  • Achieving your Type 1 certification is also a great way to show the Team that you are interested in moving into higher forms of leadership and responsibility with Sacramento CERT.

If you are interested in moving into higher forms of leadership and responsibility with SFD CERT, achieving your Type 1 Volunteer certification is a vital component in the process.

The exercise will be at 4701 Forcum Ave at the NCRPSTA Tactical Village. CERT members and Volunteer Victims should be on site site no later than 1300 to receive the drill briefing. Bring your CERT PPE including your helmet, gloves, goggles, and CERT vest. Drill proctors and staff will receive an email telling you what time we will start setting up.

Current CERT attendees should be in uniform. New students and volunteer victims should wear long pants, work boots/hiking boots/lace up shoes, over-the-shoulder t-shirt. We suggest you bring a lunch, as there are no restaraungs really close, so drive times mean you won't have much time to eat.

Veteran members seeking their PTB sign offs will be placed in a squad that will work with three squads of new CERT graduates. Volunteer victims who need community service hours signed off, please bring your letter/log with you and we will sign off as you leave.

If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected].

Thank you for your participation, and we look forward to seeing you at the drill!
