This is the Sacramento CERT Wildland Fire Urban Interface class sponsored by the Sacramento Fire Department.
This class is required for all members seeking to become FEMA CERT Volunteer Type 1 or 2 with the Sacramento CERT program.
Students will learn wildfire awareness and prevention, what to do when a wildfire approaches, and basic concepts about wildland fire preparedness. Members will also learn how to deploy an individual fire shelter.
All members will need to attend the full video, lecture, and fire shelter training modules to receive credit for completion.
REQUIRED: Please wear long pants (jeans or black BDU bottoms), closed toe shoes (boots preferred), and bring your PPE for the fire shelter portion. Wear what you would wear in the field during a deployment - wearing what you would wear in the field is vital to understand the difficulties of deploying a fire shelter in full gear.
