This will be to welcome our new Type 2 FEMA CERT Volunteer members to the program.
As a reminder, to become a FEMA CERT Volunteer Type 2 member, the following must be complete:
- Basic CERT Course
- ARC Disaster Cycle Services
- ARC Shelter Fundamentals
- FEMA NIMS IS 100
- FEMA NIMS IS 200
- FEMA NIMS IS 288*
- FEMA NIMS IS 505*
- FEMA NIMS IS 700
- FEMA NIMS IS 800
- CA SEMS G606
- SFD Wildland Fire/Urban Interface
- SFD HAZMAT First Responder Awareness
- SFD Flood and Swift Water Awareness**
*New classes added with the new FEMA CERT Volunteer Position Qualification System requirements for FEMA CERT Volunteer Type 2
**If you have all classes complete except the Flood and Swift Water Awareness, you may still be sworn in as a probationary Type 2 member on the condition that you attend the next available FSW class.
Once a member reaches deployable status, there are a few logistical and administrative items that need to be handled:
- Read/Sign the Code of Conduct paperwork
- Read/Sign the DSW paperwork
- Administration of the California Oath
- Take ID Photos/Issue ID Cards
- Set up Everbridge Account
- View Uniform Policy Presentation
- Order Uniforms
- Deployment/call out procedures
This usually doesn't take a full day, but we allocate a full 8 hours to work around FD assets, as the Oath must be provided by specific individuals within the department.
Other members who have expired ID cards or who need to order uniforms may also attend. Uniform orders will be done on line (you can order in advance or at the event).
