The Elk Grove/Galt CERT program is reaching out to our program asking for volunteer victims for an IMCI (Intentional Mass Casualty Incident) drill that runs from April 14 to April 19.
An IMCI (Intentional Mass Casualty Incident) differs from an MCI (Mass Casualty Incident) in that the incident is criminal in nature (shooting, stabbings, vehicle into a crowd, etc.). Triage in IMCIs are often different than standard MCIs based upon the weapon used, etc.
We can assume this IMCI event will be for both Fire and PD, with our CERT members filling the roles of victims and passer-bys. You may see law enforcment conducting tactical maneuvers and see/hear simulated gunshots and other simulated tactical gear being utilzied.
Please wear street clothes you can get dirty as we don't know if they will be using indoor or outdoor venues for the event.
