Shortly after the Camp Fire, Butte County created their own CERT program. Butte County asked CalOES for assistance, and CalOES referred them to us since we had worked the Camp Fire in their jurisdiction. Ever since we have been assisting with their hands-on skills days and graduation exercises.
Day 1 - Skills Day - We need instructors and/or veteran CERT members who can assist with hands-on skills practice (bandaging, splinting, head-to-toe evaluations, cribbing, fire suppression, etc.). Members must appear in uniform with their full PPE. Non-instructors will act as volunteer victims for new candidates and Butte County CERT members refreshing their skills.
Day 2 - Skills Day and exercise - We need instructors and/or veteran CERT members who can assist with hands-on skills practice (bandaging, splinting, head-to-toe evaluations, cribbing, fire suppression, etc.). We also need lane proctors to assist in the exercise (run just like ours with 3 or 4 lanes). Members must appear in uniform with their full PPE.
When in Butte County, we are representing our program and department. Members who assist must be professional, courteous, and in full uniform/PPE.
