FEMA US&R Search Dog Training

By Sacramento CERT (other events)

2 Dates Through Jan 07, 2024

ABOUT ABOUT

FEMA is asking for CERT volunteers to act as missing persons for their US&R Search Dog training. CERT victims would be hidden for search dogs to locate. This helps train and certify the search dogs for duty. We expect up to 42 dogs with handlers coming through the exercise over both days (17 on Saturday, 25 on Sunday) over three "lanes".

You will be placed in small, dark spaces and asked to remain motionless and quiet to let the handlers and dogs locate you. Bring your helmet, eye protection, and any elbow/knee pads you may need with you. It may be cold, so bring warm clothing. There will be cadaver dogs as well as live search dogs on site, our members will not be placed with cadavers.

Lunch will be provided for volunteers on site.

We need at least 6 individuals (12 ideal) for Jan 6th and at least 6 individuals (12 ideal) for Jan 7th. Both days we need at least 2 EMRs to provide First Aid coverage as well. EMRs may be able to rotate in to be victims as well.

This These events have been a lot of fun in the past, and having live victims greatly helps the dogs and handlers.

As a reminder, NO PHOTOGRAPHY OR VIDEO is allowed at the drill sites. All photos/videos taken must be cleared through CERT Operations/CTL before posting to any social media or web site/platform.
