All CERT members are welcome to attend this social event. We rarely get to socialize and become our own CERT community in the absence of a unifying mission task. This social supports the building of our own CERT community and cohesion as a team. For this specific event the mission task is to watch videos, play a board game, and eat ribs.

The social does have a theme. The videos we’ll be watching come from a CDC curated selection on safety after a nuclear detonation. They thankfully removed all mentions of “duck and cover.” Radiation and nuclear threats are intimidating and something we like to pretend isn’t there. With all intimidating things, a little knowledge goes a long way to being ready to keep yourself and loved ones safe in an emergency. 1.5 hours
After the videos, we’ll play a board game based on the operation of a Community Reception Center (CRC). A CRC screens and decontaminates the survivors of a radiological emergency. 1-2 hours
And of course, ribs!
